the apartment in Kville is filling up!

yesterday (3/21) we took a truckload of stuff down to Kernersville to move into the new apartment.  we're not done, and hardly any of our furniture matches, but ya know, God has provided quite a bit… enough so that our place is certainly livable without us having to buy a ton of new stuff.  Many thanks to the moms for washing all our new dishes & giving our kitchen some organization.  Thanks to Sarah's dad for driving the big 26' Penske truck (he loved it).  Thanks to Tim Shrader for helping with lots of stuff, and a HUGE thanks to Gene Schlesinger's community group from 121 Church in Winston-Salem (www.121church.org).  Our truck wasn't totally full, but these guys (whom we had never met!) unloaded the entire truck in under 1hr.  Amazing.  That's the body of Christ at work.

Without further adieu, a few photos…

secrets for a happy marriage…

…compliments of a bunch of first graders @ Ladd Elementary. You’d be surprised how practical some of these kids are.

“Dear Scott, help her cook.”

“Go to the mountains & have a picnic.”

“Dear Scott, you should make cookies. You should make her chocolate.”

“Sarah, if you need some help with things, just say ‘you need to help me’ and he will. My mom always does it. It will work.”

“Dear Sarah. Help each other. Be nice to each other. Be thankful.”

etc etc…

so these folks are a generation older than Sarah & me… but having some worship in honor of our upcoming wedding? (13 days from today!) pretty cool.

I’m pretty sure that beer wasn’t designed to be gross.

So after a long day of packing, sorting, and loading, Sarah & I were (are) beat. Thankfully the majority of our stuff is packed (particularily the big items). We did have a few more friends lined up to help us tonight, but due to the awesomeness of our afternoon help, they weren’t needed… so we took a break & met up with Chris, at Basil (www.basilmedbistro.com), for some amazing food & yes, quality beer.

Recognize any of these? If you don’t, each are worth going out of your way to try sometime.

Thanks to Sarah’s dad, Dale, as well… for renting & driving the truck over… and yup, helping us load our junk.

The truck may be a little big.

Moving day tomorrow! Packing today… truck is 26′… we filled about 1/2 of the back of this. Yup, too big… but better too much space than too little :)

Can you find the St. Patty’s day flavors?

Tonight before the community group that Sarah & I are part of through church (www.porticocville.org), we grabbed some St. Patty’s day gelato from Splendora’s (www.splendoras.com). Here’s a small portion of their spread… and the two seasonal flavors pictured here?

Amazing.

I have too much crap.

So Sarah has been helping me sort through some of my belongings in preparation for our big move to NC on Saturday.  I have so much "junk" saved from over the years, which I once perceived to have some value, not necessarily monetarily either.  I've thrown out piles of stuff from school.  I have hundreds of audio CDs, yet 95% of the time I'm listening to music through iTunes, an iPod/iPhone, or Pandora.com.  I'm quickly rediscovering something I've known for a long time: I have too much crap.

Point: I need to simplify & declutter my life.

Sarah has been great though.  I love her & am sometimes bewildered how & why she puts up with me.  There's so much left to do in the 2.5 weeks left before our wedding & I'm experiencing stress levels I haven't felt in a while.  Not only are we planning an event for what may be near 350 people celebrating our lives, but we're moving… to another state.  The rest of life hasn't stopped either, and I'm having a difficult time juggling everything.

Whew.  Gotta keep moving though…
